I’m Laura, a Dog Activity Specialist based near Johnshaven in Angus, Scotland.
I believe there’s so much more to enjoying life with your dog than traditional obedience training.

Snuffle Spot is a fun, private space where dogs of all ages and abilities can investigate, discover new things and enjoy themselves at their own pace.

During Regular sessions, you can sit back with a cuppa and enjoy an informal chat with an experienced dog trainer. Ask questions, pick up a few ideas or simply enjoy watching your dog have fun!

Put your dog’s amazing nose to work!
Scent work is a fun, rewarding activity that gives dogs the opportunity to do what comes naturally — sniff!
From complete beginners to enthusiastic sniffers looking for new challenges, I offer introductory workshops, practical searching activities and opportunities to develop scent detection skills.
Suitable for dogs of all ages and abilities, including those who may find traditional group activities difficult.
A wonderful way to build confidence, work together and discover just how incredible your dog’s nose really is!
Practical 1-to-1 Dog Training
Real-life skills, practical support and learning together!
Whether you’ve welcomed a new puppy, would like calmer behaviour at home, or need a little help with everyday skills, my 1-to-1 sessions are tailored to you and your dog.
We’ll work on things like loose lead walking, recall, calmness, confidence and puppy life skills, using fun, positive, games-based training.
Rather than practising in a traditional classroom, we’ll learn in practical, real-life environments, helping you develop skills you can actually use in everyday life.

Meet Laura – The Person Behind Laura Carter Canines
I’ve spent nearly 20 years working with pet dogs, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that every dog is different — and there’s so much more to enjoying life together than teaching obedience!
I’m an IMDT-qualified dog trainer, scent work enthusiast, author of The Vet Says Rest, and I’ve even appeared as an expert trainer on Channel 4’s Superstar Dogs.
These days, I describe myself as a Dog Activity Specialist, because my real passion is helping dogs and their owners discover new ways to have fun, build confidence and enjoy time together.
At my countryside base near Johnshaven, I have private woodland, an enclosed paddock and an indoor Bothy. I also have Snuffle Spot in Montrose, giving owners another way to enjoy activities with their dogs.
And when I’m not working with other people’s dogs, I’m usually surrounded by my own lively gang!
My philosophy is simple: it’s not about having the perfect dog. It’s about enjoying the one you’ve got.
