Calm Canine Club
A Unique Sensory Experience for Dogs
Welcome to the Calm Canine Club, an enriching indoor dog activity that provides a safe and stimulating environment for dogs of all ages and abilities.
Designed to promote mental enrichment for dogs, our sessions encourage natural sniffing and foraging behaviours, making them an ideal alternative to dog walks for dogs who need a low-impact but fulfilling experience.
Think of it as soft play for dogs, where they can explore, relax, and engage their senses.
Sessions are held at The Old Potting Shed, Damside House, Johnshaven, Montrose, Scotland DD10 0HY

Who is it for?
The Calm Canine Club is suitable for all dogs, but especially those who benefit from mental stimulation without the physical demands of long walks.
The indoor sniffari sessions are perfect for:
Dogs recovering from injury or surgery – Providing low-impact mental stimulation to keep them engaged while they heal.
Elderly dogs – A gentle but rewarding experience that supports cognitive health and mental enrichment for senior dogs.
Reactive or nervous dogs – A stress-free, controlled dog activity space where they can explore without the pressure of encountering unfamiliar dogs.
Dogs that can’t be off-lead safely – Whether due to recall issues or owner concerns, this provides a secure and indoor dog-friendly alternative.
Owners with limited time or mobility – If bad weather, young children, or personal injury make regular walks difficult, this alternative to dog walks offers a convenient and engaging solution.
Young puppies – A fantastic way to introduce puppies to new experiences, boosting confidence while avoiding overstimulation.
Dogs that simply love to sniff! – Scent work for dogs is incredibly satisfying and can provide a much-needed mental workout.
The Benefits of the Calm Canine Club
Dogs experience the world primarily through their nose, and our scent-based enrichment for dogs helps them feel mentally satisfied and relaxed.
Mental enrichment for dogs – Searching for hidden treats and scents provides a rewarding challenge.
Stress relief and relaxation – Sniffing naturally calms dogs, reducing anxiety and improving emotional wellbeing.
Confidence building – Especially beneficial for nervous or reactive dogs, allowing them to explore at their own pace.
A great energy outlet – Perfect for high-energy dogs or those on restricted exercise, providing a fulfilling alternative to physical exercise.
A fun and rewarding experience – Helps prevent boredom and unwanted behaviours by keeping dogs mentally engaged.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Is this suitable for dogs with food allergies?
Yes! If your dog has specific dietary requirements or allergies, please let us know in advance. We can tailor the treats and hidden goodies accordingly, or you’re welcome to bring your own safe treats for your dog to find. It is also best if you book the first session of the day in case any treats are left from the previous session.
Is it suitable for dogs who are nervous or reactive?
Absolutely! Each session is private, ensuring your dog has a calm and stress-free environment to explore at their own pace, without the worry of encountering other dogs or people.
Can I bring my children along?
Children are welcome to attend, but we ask that they remain calm and respect the dog’s experience. This is a low-energy, relaxing environment, and we want all dogs to feel safe and comfortable. If you’re unsure whether it’s suitable for your child, feel free to ask before booking.
Can I book multiple sessions?
Yes! Many owners find that regular visits provide ongoing enrichment and relaxation for their dogs. You can book as many sessions as you like, depending on availability.
What should I bring?
You don’t need to bring anything unless your dog has specific treats, toys, or bedding they’d feel more comfortable with. We provide a range of treats and scent-based activities for your dog to enjoy.
